FAQ
-
Who are Heat Horizons?
We are a specialist renewable energy installation company based in Oxfordshire, focused on battery-buffered heat pumps, solar PV, and smart energy systems. Our goal is to deliver high-performance, future-proof solutions for homes and businesses.
-
What areas do you cover?
We primarily serve Oxfordshire and surrounding counties, but can discuss projects further afield on request.
-
What is a battery-buffered heat pump?
A battery-buffered heat pump combines a highly efficient air source heat pump with an energy storage system. The battery allows you to run the heat pump when electricity is cheaper or greener, reducing running costs and carbon emissions.
-
Will a heat pump work in my home?
During our design consultation, we assess your property’s insulation, heating distribution system (radiators/underfloor), and energy needs to ensure the system is tailored to you.
-
Are heat pumps noisy?
Modern air source heat pumps are quiet, typically no louder than a household fridge. We design systems to minimise impact on your home and your neighbours environment.
-
Can I add solar to my system later?
Yes. Our designs are modular, meaning solar PV and battery storage can be installed alongside or added to your heat pump system in future.
-
What battery size will I need?
This depends on your household energy use and goals. We’ll review your past energy bills and lifestyle during the design stage to recommend the most efficient solution.
-
How much does a system cost?
Every home is different, but we provide instant online estimates followed by a detailed proposal after your home survey. We aim for transparency with no hidden costs.
-
Are there grants or incentives available?
Yes. Many installations qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), offering up to £7,500 towards heat pump installation. We also ensure compliance with VAT reductions on renewable installations where applicable.
-
How long does installation take?
Most systems are installed in 3–5 days, depending on the size and complexity of your project. Larger systems may take longer.
-
Who carries out the installation?
All installs are carried out by accredited engineers who meet MCS and HEIS standards. We only use trusted professionals with proven experience.
-
What happens after installation?
Your system is digitally monitored to ensure optimum performance. If issues arise, we can often diagnose them remotely and arrange fast support if needed.
-
Do you provide maintenance services?
Yes. We offer annual servicing and system checks to keep your installation efficient and compliant with warranty requirements.
